You have one more chance this Gasparilla season to catch beads thrown from floats.
On Saturday, more than 120 parade units will take over the streets of Ybor City for The Krewe of Knights of Sant' Yago's Pin Chasers Knight Parade.
Participants in costumes will ride decorated floats with lights along with marching bands will parade along Seventh Avenue at 7 p.m. Saturday. The parade route starts its trek at Nuccio Parkway and ends at 22nd Avenue.
Talk show host Jerry Springer is slated to be the honorary grand marshal. Tampa native April Lufriu, the reigning Mrs. World, is this year's grand marshal.
The two-hour parade is part of Tampa's annual Gasparilla celebrations. The event boasts about 7,500 participants and about 110,000 spectators.
"At one time there was a handful of krewes and commercial floats," said Simon Canasi, one of the board of directors and chairman of the parade. "Now we have over 70 krewes that have a float in the parade."
Canasi said the parade continues to be the traditional event attendees expect however there is one change – the reviewing stand was relocated back in front of the Columbia Restaurant.
