"Talking Animals," WMNF's animal-interest talk and variety show, expands to a one-hour weekly broadcast today.
Host Duncan Strauss's show mixes interviews, music and comedy, all related to animals and animal issues.
A former music journalist who also has managed comedy acts, Strauss introduced the program on KUCI in Irvine, Calif., in 2003. When he relocated to Florida in 2005, the program found a new home on listener-supported WMNF, 88.5 FM. It began as a once-a-month, half-hour series.
While "Talking Animals" has featured guests such as animal activists, veterinarians and animal trainers, its celebrity guest list no doubt has helped its popularity grow.
Alec Baldwin, Jane Goodall, Margaret Cho, Chrissie Hynde and Kinky Friedman are among the guests who have appeared on the show.
"Talking Animals" airs at 11 a.m. Today's guest is Jason Hribal, author of "Fear of an Animal Planet: The Hidden History of Animal Resistance."
